RIU Awards USA & Canada Celebrates its Eighth Edition in Mexico

RIU Hotels & Resorts celebrated the eighth edition of the RIU Awards, which recognize the work of the most important travel agents from the USA and Canada for the chain. This year, the event was held at the Riu Palace Pacifico hotel in Riviera Nayarit, Mexico. Representatives from the most important agencies in the two main source markets for RIU in the Americas attended. The celebration, with a “Fiesta Mexicana” theme and details inspired by Otomi art, rewarded these professionals for their trust in the chain, whose work consolidates the brand’s presence in both countries. French real estate investment company Sofidy has acquired the three-star, 23-room Hôtel Korner Opéra and the three-star, 35-room Hôtel Korner Eiffel in Paris from a private investor through a sale-and-leaseback transaction, for an amount reported to be around €10 million (€172,400 per room). The Korner Opéra is situated in Paris’ 2nd district between the Louvre Museum and the Palais Garnier and was renovated in 2018. The Korner Eiffel is located in the 15th district about 1.5 kms south of the Eiffel Tower and was renovated in 2015. Both properties are leased back to French operator Korner Hotels on a 12-year term.
